as we head into the weekend, conditions will stabilize and slowly warm up, from the low 50s on saturday to near 60 degrees by monday. alpine meadows ski resort is closed for the rest of the day latest storm has created a very high to extreme level of avalanche risk in avalanche-prone areas. fire crews say a snowslide happened near the intersection of deer park road just before 7:15 a.m. on thursday. crews say the slide hit an employee transport bus which was then pushed about 30 feet across the road, and then it hit a home sustaining minimal damage. thankfully, no one was hurt.
6:31 pm
second avalanche hit another car, which was pushed on top of the first avalanche site. firefighters and alpine meadows cleared until noon, less than five hours later. many of the main roads are clear now, but snow is melting in some parts of town... so it could make for slick roads overnight. amanda ketchledge is live at mt. rose highway with a look at conditions for drivers. amanda, how it is out there? kristen-- it's very windy and cold. so if you plan on traveling through here, you're going want to carry chains or have snow tires. because this is the only

chain controls at this time. but the valley also saw the weather impacting the roads in reno and sparks today. take a look at this video that we shot earlier. you can see how heavy the snow came down. some drivers were taking it very slow on the roads, but nevada highway patrol says they were handling up to 20 accidents at a time this morning. trooper duncan dauber, nhp: "people aren't giving enough space between each other, they're still following too close. and they get comfortable driving fast at a certain speed, but when something happens in front of it, there's no way that that vehicle is able to adjust to get out of the way of a crash." trooper duncan dauber says there were several incidents like slide offs, disabled vehicles, people running out of gas and property damage accidents. no one was seriously hurt. but nhp is gearing up for people who may need help on the roads tonight. and drivers we talked to are preparing for the change in weather. gretchin kvaal, mt. rose

they're one of the wall street banks that triggered the financial meltdown -- goldman sachs. just settled with authorities for their part in the crisis that put seven million out of work and millions out of their homes. how does wall street get away with it? millions in campaign contributions and speaking fees. our economy works for wall street because it's rigged by wall street. and that's the problem. as long as washington is bought and paid for, we can't build an economy that works for people.

with the caucus just days away and all eyes on how nevada's democrats will vote...we thought this would be a good time to take a look at super delegates. who are they... how they get that status... and does their vote count more than the others? erin breen joins us here in the studio tonight to sort it all out. erin super delegates go to the national convention. and they are basically elected officials within the party. and being one gives you two things...a guarantee you'll go to the convention....and freedom on deciding who you vote for. the other delegates at the national convention are pledged to a specific candidate they are obligated to support. other than that their votes are equal. chris....:"you have 712 delegates you have to get 2,382
6:39 pm
let me boil that down for you. there are a limited number of state delegates at the national convention and the nominee has to get more than half of them. so the party sprinkles in a handful of party leaders to vote for the interest of the party. chris:"or the country." eric:"it's a balancing of interest in the party." chris wicker is one of 8 super delegates for nevada's democratic party. in fact he's the only one in washoe county. chris: the dnc calls them unpledged delegates but i guess super delegate has more flash . i kinda like it ha ha ha." being a super delegate means his vote is up to him. erik:"they get to go and they get to vote for whoever they want." the other 35 delegates... who will rise up through the caucuses this weekend will be obligated to a specific candidate. the super delegates can pledge their votes ahead of time...which could definitely change the political polls. but could they swing a nomination? chris:"it could swing a very very close national nomination...15% it not a negligible number."
6:40 pm
rest of the delegates show solidarity....the experts say it's pretty unlikely. eric:" they are a collection but not the majority ..far from it." say the state sent 23 delegates plus 8 super delegates. eric: so if i win 23 and the super delegates don't like me i win 23-8 and if i do that in every state the delegates go home mad but i go home with the nomination." we should note that the republican party elects all of it's delegates through the caucuses and has no super delegates. in fact today adam kahn with the county republican party said...funny but the republican party is actually more democratic than the democratic party. one person...one vote...no exceptions. covering campaign 2016 erin breen channel 2 news. as the republican presidential candidates scramble for votes in saturday's south carolina primary .. front runner donald trump came out swinging against
6:41 pm
trump objected to criticism he received from the pope over his trump's repeated calls to 'build a wall' to keep out mexican migrants. the pontiff said quote: "a person who thinks only about building walls ...and not of building bridges is not christian." end quote. trump: "for a religious leader to question a person's faith is disgraceful." the latest cbs news national poll shows donald trump with a two-to-one advantage over ted cruz. and high-powered democrats are making the circuit in nevada... getting ready for saturday's caucus. bernie sanders will be in sparks tomorrow.. right after holding a town meeting in elko. the sparks rally will be held in the rose ballroom at the nugget casino resort. the event is free and open to the public. doors open at one p-m. and please stay with channel 2 news and "cbs news" on air, online, and on facebook and twitter for continuing coverage of campaign 2016. mike will have a look at your

about half of what is needed. volunteers are utilized and hand-me-down equipment has been donated -- including two fire engines from the city of las vegas. city leaders say they expect more property tax revenue to come in, as growth continues -- but huntley fears it won't be enough because of lower assessed values. while the mountains could see some more snow on friday , most of the wintry weather of late will ease as we head into the weekend. there is one more weak storm system moving in friday afternoon, but the dynamics aren't strong enough to have much left over for the valley to overcome the rain shadow effect. the mountains could potentially see a couple of additional inches. as we head into the weekend, conditions will stabilize and slowly warm up, from the low 50s on saturday to
